Parodontal diseases

Parodontitis it is a disease that XX century didn't manage to defeat completely. 

One of the first visible symptomps is loosening of one tooth or of a group of teeth.  It is often neglected, though.  Usually patients visit dental clinics when a parodontal disease is advanced.  Treatment is much more difficult then. 

In the first stage of treatment disease advancement is evaluated.  Parodontal diseases may refer to gums or to whole group of structures holding teeth in the bone.

The most frequently we have to do with gingivitis and begin treating this affliction. Proper medicine, scale removal usually soothe the acute stage of the inflammation. 

Unfortunately loose teeth will remain with a large loss of periodontum tissues.  Teeth stabilization is crucial in this stage. It is performed by means of special splints, crowns or temporary bridges.  In advanced forms, though, farmacological treatment and teeth stabilization is not sufficient.

Then Guided Tissue Regeneration procedures are performed.  These are highly specialised surgeries which use make use of special materials triggering missing tissue to regenerate.  Function and aesthetics of missing gums and distroyed teeth may be restored to a large extend.

Active photodisinfection has been being applied in our periodontum regeneration and surgeries since June 2009.  After mechanical cleaning a special light activated preparation, which distroys remaining bacteria, is inserted to the tooth lesion.  

To be successful in this field, close cooperation between the doctor and the patient is necessary.  Regular check-ups, proper hygiene and lifestyle will be helpful in achieving the success.  If you smoke and have problems with periodontium - quit smoking first.  It is the basic step in treating various afflictions, including parodontitis.
